Beauty favourites

Ok, I know I'm not any kind of beauty expert and I'm pretty sure my make-up doesn't even look that good half of the time but I just want to share with you some of my beauty favourites at the minute. As you'll be able to tell, I always buy drugstore makeup so there's not anything here that is ridiculously pricey :-) I think this also might be the direction I want to go with this blog so let's see how this post goes.

My ultimate favourite this month is Maybelline's Eye Studio Lasting Drama gel eyeliner. I really don't know why I never tried it before but I am so happy that I did because it's fab. I used to use Rimmel's Soft Kohl Kajal eye liner pencil and it was good and I used it for years. But the Maybelline eye liner just lasts so much longer throughout the day and the colour stays just as black too. The eye liner pencil would have faded more during the day than the gel eyeliner. I also think it's a lot easier to use when doing a winged eye liner look (which I pretty much do everyday) because of the small applicator. I know there's a good bit of a price difference as the Rimmel eye liner is £2.99 and the Maybelline eye liner is £7.99 but the Maybelline eye liner just lasts a lot longer. I also think the overall product will last a lot longer because you only have to use a really tiny bit to achieve the look you want. So, yes, I definitely recommend it. In Boots, they often do 3 for 2 offers on Maybelline too so you should keep your eyes peeled for that offer and get some other makeup that you want at the same time and save yourself a few pounds :-)

(Ignore my horrible chipped nails).

At the minute, I'm also loving the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain. I have it in the shade 'romantic' which is a really nice red colour. The crayon just glides on so easily and it makes your lips feel so soft as well as adding a great colour to any look. It also lasts quite long which I find doesn't usually happen with something so moisturising. Last week, I put it on then about an hour later I had dinner and it still looked great afterwards, however, slightly faded. It's not hard to touch up though and you don't even need a sharpener when it runs down because you can twist it up. This product is also £7.99 but I got it on a 2 for £10 offer and my sister took the other one so I actually only spent £5, haha. I love the bargains. But this is great if you often put a colour on your lips and then a gloss/balm because it does the two jobs in one. It also smells of peppermint which is so nice!

Sorry about the writing being worn but it's constantly in my bag so it's all faded.

Another fave is an all time fave. It's Natural Collection Blusher, which I use in shade 'pink cloud'. You just can't beat it on the price - £1.99 is such a bargain. It lasts just as well as more expensive blushers and it's a lovely colour so I always end up going back to it. I tried an NYC Colour Wheel last time I bought blusher and within a few days it broke up into lots of pieces and it was going everywhere and it was just a total mess so I went back to Natural Collection.

My last favourite is actually a product which I have had for a verrry long time but I never used it. I just happened to find it again recently and now I really like it. It's a Bourjois' Little Round Pot eyeshadow in the shade 90 (or 'Blanc Diaphane'). It's a very nice, shimmery white. I love using it on the inner corners of my eyes and it is also great to use as a highlighter because of the lovely shimmery tones in it. It's very easy to blend with other colours when using as an eyeshadow which is great too. I didn't have a clue what price this was but I just checked the Boots website for anyone who is interested and it's £6.99. I wouldn't say it's cheap but if you get it in this shade to use as a highlighter as well then it's a very good price. I'm so glad I found this product again!
Sorry I couldn't get a good picture.

Excuse the dirty mirror, haha.

So there you have it.. my current favourites. I know I'm no expert but I know that I love hearing what other people have to say about products before buying them so I thought I would share my thoughts with anyone reading this. Hopefully I have inspired you for your next make-up purchase. So goodbye for now, and happy spending!

  3. So lovely to find your blog:). I really like the sound of 'balm stain' especially one that stays on after you have eaten food. I really dislike it when my lipstick disappears after eating, I find this to be the case with lipstick.

I have followed and looking forward to your future posts.

    1. Aww thanks! It is really good.. I would highly recommend it. It's so good that the colour actually stays on and it doesn't dry out your lips either. I haven't tried any other colours yet so I'm not sure how they would be but that one is definitely great! Thanks for following by the way. I checked out your blog and it's lovely so I followed back :-) xx
